train delays
One of my students shared an additional travel tip with me the other day...she suggested that if I was late in arriving and catching a connecting train, I could ask the conductor to radio to the other train and it would wait up to 30 mins for me to make the connection. She said this is one reason that so many of the trains in Poland run late. If one runs late, there is a massive spill over effect. I haven't actually experienced this because our most frequent trip is the Lublin to Warsaw, run which originates in Lublin. It seems a little impractical to me to delay hundreds of people while waiting for a few, but it would obviously be nice if you were the one they were waiting for.
