Meals while traveling are always hit and miss. We started our day at 4:00 am with bowls of cereal, followed with donuts three hours later at the Warsaw train station. We didn't have time to sit down for lunch before our flight, so David and I got take-away sandwiches for the plane (and ate them at the gate lounge when the flight was delayed). Delaney and Adam chose to snack on the rolls I had brought from home. Surprisingly, we were served a meal on the plane - turkey wraps with a piece of Lindt chocolate. They were quite good (although Adam and Delaney didn't think so). Upon arrival at the Athens airport, we found Adam and Delaney something to eat and headed for the hotel. After relaxing there for a while, we decided to head to the Plaka district ("the" place to dine in the center city). We came out of the metro in a torential downpour, promptly bought 4 umbrellas from a happy street vendor, and stepped out to find dinner. There was a McDonald's across the street, which Adam lobbied for, but David and I were determined to find something better. Several twisty, turning blocks down we found a cafe that looked acceptable. IT WAS PERFECT! David and I shared a "Greek platter for two" with 6 different dishes on it - yum! Delaney enjoyed her plain pasta, and Adam has salmon filled tortelli. The only downside was that the ATM didn't give us enough cash to enjoy some baklava afterwards! We'll make up for it tomorrow... : )
