Ferry travel

We got to add two new modes of transit to our experience on this trip...funicular (cog railroad) up Mt Lycabattus, and inter-island ferry to Poros!  I purchased advanced tickets for the ferry online and received very specific instructions about how to pick them up. (This included a photo of the store front of the travel agency just a block down from the metro station).  It was a good thing the photo was provided because the water front was crazy-busy and crammed with ticket agencies and street vendors and people!  We got the tickets and were told our ship was through 'Gate 8', just across the street.  We walked through the gates and there were ships pulled up to the piers spread out in front of us, but with very little signage.  We were early, so we sat down to wait for a bit.  When it was 30 minutes to departure, I started getting nervous that there was no sign of activity for a passenger ferry.  I started looking closer at the ships docked all along the shore.  I asked David if the ship name was printed on our tickets...yes, the Flying Cat 1.  We spotted it far around the bend at Gate 9 (there are not pier numbers unfortunately).  We made our way over there and boarded with just 10 minutes to spare.  I'm still feeling lucky that we didn't miss it because we didn't quite know what to do or to look for!

The ship was a catamaran that could probably hold 200 people easily.  I was hoping that we could go on deck and get some fresh air and see the coast as we rode, but the cabin was closed and most of the window seats were taken.  Delaney and I managed to find one row that was open and moved.  The seating basically looked like that of an airplane (with a bit more leg room and no fasten seatbelt sign).  The ride was extremely  smoothe and didn't feel like we were moving as fast as we were.  We traveled about 55 km in 1 hr 15 mins.  When we looked out the back window, the ship was putting out a huge rooster tail and wake.
